Weather in Turks and Caicos

Don’t make the mistake of closely following the weather forecast for your upcoming trip, and becoming dismayed when there’s a prediction for rain and clouds.

The average temperature ranges between 80 and 90 degrees (29-32 degrees Celsius) from June to October, sometimes reaching the mid 90’s (35 degrees Celsius), especially in the late summer months. From November to May the average temperature is 80 to 84 degrees (27-29 degrees Celsius). Water temperature in the summer is 82 to 84 degrees (28-29 degrees Celsius) and in winter about 74 to 78 degrees (23-26 degrees Celsius). A constant trade wind keeps the climate at a very comfortable level.

Generally, the water temperature at the beach will be higher than what predictions show due to localized heating by the sun.

The weather experienced is often better than what was forecasted, and bad conditions tend to pass quickly. The Turks and Caicos simply doesn’t get much rain, which is bad for farming yet great for beachgoers.

ONLY USE
REEF SAFE SUNSCREEN!

WHEN YOU’RE SHOPPING FOR SUNSCREEN, HERE ARE SOME KEY THINGS TO LOOK FOR:

The absence of oxybenzone and octinoxate in listed ingredients. These two chemicals are harmful to corals and can cause sunscreen-induced coral bleaching, so look for them in the ingredient list. Their absence points the product being reef-safe.

Mineral based sunscreen with the ingredients zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Sunscreens made with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are mineral-based.

So rather than being absorbed like traditional sunscreen, the particles of these ingredients sit on top of the skin and block harmful UV rays. These ingredients are less harmful to corals and are not linked to coral bleaching.

Reef-safe labels. Typically companies will label their products as “reef-safe” but always check the ingredients to be sure.
